Welcoming Letter

Dear Colleagues,

constant dynamic development of clinical disciplines resulted in their division into various thematic categories, that gather people focused on giving these categories an in-depth study. As a result, many Scientific Associations were established, that take interest in narrower fields of endocrinology like thyreology, osteoporosis, or neuroendocrinology. In our opinion, Polish Society of Endocrinology in some way is a mother institution to these Scientific Associations. Being aware of the crumble of our scientific circle into smaller units, and taking into consideration our will to integrate our enterprises, we decided to organize the International Forum of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolic Disorders. It will be a great opportunity to spread knowledge of hot topics from various endocrinology branches. Our initiative met the interest and support of 23 International, European and Polish Scientific Associations, such as:

• Polish Association of Nuclear Medicine
• Polish Family Medicine Society
• Polish Menopause and Andropause Society
• Polish Society of Nephrology
• Polish Society of Neurosurgeons
• Polish Neuroendocrine Association
• Polish Sexological Society
• Polish Thyreology Society

I would like to thank the Presidents of the above mentioned Societies for responding positively to our invitation. During the conference every Society will present its own session concerning the most topical aspects within a certain branch of endocrinology. We are planning to award many valuable prizes for the best posters and lots of other attractions. The Forum will be a great opportunity to update your knowledge of the latest issues connected with endocrinology, diabetes and metabolic disorders during interactive sessions. Apart from the above, it will be also an unforgettable chance to experience the unique Krakow’s atmosphere in a beautiful early autumn climate. I am looking forward to meeting you in Krakow’s Wawel on the 25th-27th of November 2010.
